Do you wonder what the %#@ is going in japan's nuclear reactors ? What has happened that has created the foundations of such a fiasco ? CNN has a very good introductory-level explanation. worth reading.

[12/4/2011 CNN reports that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis has been classifed has a "major accident": "Japan declared the Fukushima Daiichi crisis a Level 7 event on the international system for rating nuclear accidents Tuesday, putting it on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in the former Soviet Union."
You can check out the international Nuclear event scale here, and compare to other past disasters here. Our heart goes out to the Japanese people. One can completely understand Japan's PM losing patience with The Tokyo Electric Power Company and giving them a deadline to solve the problems. I believe that had been in his shoes, I would have given a much shorter period, but then again, I'm not Japanese... ]
